6-day senior rowing training camp on Derwentwater, Lake District. Leaving York early Saturday 4th April, returning late Thursday 9th April. Transport from York will be provided if necessary, or meet in the Lake District on Saturday at a time TBC. We have deliberately chosen the last week of the Easter holiday so that training camp will provide an intense ‘pre-season’ week to the biggest term of our season, while also giving everyone Easter weekend off. After Easter weekend, we're straight into Roses, BUCS and a ton of other regattas, so if you're looking to compete for seats in these top crews you will be expected to attend camp. Expect 3-4 sessions per day, predominantly water work but with cross training and other land-based training as well. You will need to bring plenty of kit as there will be no laundry facilities available, and it is possible that some areas of the lake will be choppy. Accommodation and food provided by Derwentwater Independent Hostel. Room allocations will be made by captains across a mix of bunk-bedded rooms, ranging from 5-10 people in each. The hostel will be providing us with three meals a day (buffet breakfast, packed lunch and a three course evening meal), and are experienced in providing appropriate portions for rowers/athletes using the area. Having said this, there are also self-catering facilities available for us to use. We will be storing boats at the Hostel, which is approximately 100m from the boating ‘beach’ area on the lake. Trailering and car hire will be charged on top of this. We will update you on the cost of this once we have final numbers, but allow approximately £50 extra for trailering and transport costs.
