About Conservative & Unionist Association (York Tories)
The University of York Conservative and Unionist Association is a society for members, supporters, and those interested in the Conservative Party and conservative politics in the UK. We host a number of formal and informal events throughout the year, including Balls, debates, bar crawls and our famed 'Port & Policy' event once a term. The York Tories are one of the largest Conservative societies in the country, so there is no better way to meet like-minded conservatives at York.
Twice a year, we host formal, black-tie Balls, attended by students and activists from across the country, alongside our guest of honour from the realm of conservative politics. Our Balls are infamous for being some of the best in the country, and are unforgettable evenings for all who attend. For those interested in campaigning for the Conservative Party in local and national elections, we work closely with the York Conservative Association to run regular canvassing and leaflet dropping events to assist our local candidates.
Our Wednesday socials are more drinking orientated, often facilitated through a themed bar crawl, or a 'Pint & Policy' event, where motions are debated accompanied by a few pints of your favourite tipple. On Fridays, we host a wider variety of more intellectual events, including talks from guest speakers, Film Nights, or Curry Club. In the past, we have hosted esteemed speakers such as Jacob Rees-Mogg MP, David Davis MP, and other fantastic guests from think tanks, media and Parliament.
