About Quidditch Society (York Horntails)
Welcome to Quidditch! A mixture of rugby, handball, and dodgeball, real Quidditch is a full-contact, mixed-gender sport recognised by the Sport and Recreation Alliance. You are already playing a sport and would like to try something new? Great! You would like to get into sports, but you are worried about not being fit enough? Not a problem! Quidditch is a versatile team sport with different roles and playstyles that allow for different levels of ability and fitness. With so many positions, anyone can find their role on pitch. Come along to a session to see what this awesome sport is about!
Our team, York Horntails, competes nationally and has won the Silver Medal at Northern Cup 2017, qualifying them for the European Quidditch Cup in the summer of 2018. We are also proud to have alumni members on the national squad, TeamUK!

Quidditch is an incredibly inclusive sport with an international community. The sport is mixed-gender (non-binary included) and very LGBTQ+ friendly. You won't have to worry about having your pronouns or identity respected. Our training sessions are open to everyone who wants to give it a shot, just come along on Wednesday or Saturday to 22 Acres and look for our hoops!
