About Screenwriting Society
University of York Screenwriting Society allows students from any degree and skill level to learn the basics of how to write a screenplay and put their learning into practice. Our society will delve deep into the crucial stages of the screenwriting process. And hence allow all members to learn and receive guidance as they learn to curate their own storylines, characters and be able to develop conflict. We will also be analysing scripts of famous screenwriters and contrasting them from less successful productions to be able to form a deeper understanding of the crucial elements which come into play. We will approach these stages from a collaborative standpoint as members will be able to share and jump on others' ideas. This society also will host talks with key TFTI lecturers which will be able to provide vital tips and advice. This is a fun way to kickstart your experience within the screenwriting industry whilst allowing you to start building a portfolio while studying your bachelors.
