About Music Society
You have stumbled upon the best society at the University of York! We are the centre of music-making both on campus and across the city. The Music Society is one of the largest societies at the University of York, with around 500 active members and events happening every week.
We organise concerts, music talks, society balls, and socials. We also have fantastic Practice Rooms, located in Derwent College, for our members only. We also provide affordable instrumental lessons, offer lesson bursaries, and can help source instruments on which to practise.
We want as many people as possible to make the most of what we have to offer. If you love music, get involved and make music happen!

Meeting Times
Every week during term time we host lunchtime concerts on Tuesdays and Fridays from 1pm-2pm in the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall. Members get free access to all concerts, whilst non-members get tickets for only £3.
In the Autumn and Summer terms, we celebrate the successes of the year with the biannual Society Formal Balls. Everyone is welcome to come along.
The Derwent Practice Rooms are available to members. These are accessible 24/7.
Get Involved
The Music Society is open to anyone who appreciates, plays, or has an interest in music. You don't have to be a music student and you don't have to play an instrument. Our community is incredibly warm and welcoming to all.
Everyone is welcome at our lunchtime concerts on Tuesdays and Fridays. Specific details of concerts can be found on our website. Here, you can join the Society for only £9 in cash, or pay online through the YUSU website.
