About History Society
The History Society is a particularly exciting student body to join because we organise some of the biggest and best events on campus during the academic year. These events include:
- Our annual Trip Abroad (past destinations include Krakow, Barcelona, Prague and Budapest)
- Our annual Christmas Ball
- Our annual Summer Formal/Garden Party
Moreover, alongside these events, the History Society also organises weekly socials primarily for all students who read history at this university. Our drinking socials usually consist of bar crawls, whilst our non drinking events normally centre upon regular quizzes and film screenings.
However, we are also welcoming of any UoY students who do not study history but who are interested in the subject, or simply want to get to know more people!
We hold weekly committee meetings on Wednesday at 2pm, but members can raise any queries or concerns by contacting us at [email protected]
We usually meet on Thursday evenings for our weekly socials.
You can get involved with us by paying the membership fee to register as a member of this society for the 2019-2020 academic year, and also by following our Facebook page because we post regular updates about upcoming socials on that platform.

Whether you're starting you're a first year, finalist or postgrad, all are welcome to attend our events and socials.
