The University of York Handball club was founded in 2013 and gives students the opportunity to participate in a fun, fast paced sport which has been growing in popularity within the UK since the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
Whether you’ve played handball for many years, or you’ve never heard of the sport before, our student led training sessions will help you pick up the basic skills required to play the sport and see rapid development within your ability in no time!
Our men’s and women’s team participate in local tournaments and friendlies, and we aim to compete in the 2020 Handball University Championships. The highlights of our calendar are the annual club tour and the annual Roses fixture against Lancaster.
During term time the regular handball training times are:
Monday 17:00 - 19:00,
Wednesday 19:00 - 21:00,
Sunday 13:30 - 15:30.
All our training sessions take place in the Sports Arena on Heslington West campus. Please see the club facebook pages for any changes.
To get involved with handball, simply come along to any of our regular training sessions! All our training sessions are open to new players and no previous handball experience is required. To see more of what we're about, follow us on Instagram!
