About Comedy Society
York ComedySoc hold new and original comedy shows every week of term, created and organised by our members. From improv, to sketch, to stand-up, to panel shows, or even something completely different - if it's funny, we do it! Our shows are held on Wednesdays at 8PM in V/N/045, with a discounted entry fee for paid members (ooooh).
For those looking to work on your comedy skills, we also hold free workshops every week for improv, writing, and stand-up. These are welcome for anyone to attend, and we hope to create a space for people to learn and have fun!
In addition to this, at the end of each year we run '24 Hours of Comedy', which is exactly what it sounds like - a 24-hour extravaganza of comedy, which goes towards raising money for the two shows we take to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
COVID UPDATE: Due to the current situation, we can't run all the activities that we used to be able to. However, despite this we are still endeavouring to find ways to run our events safely, whether that's in person or online, as well as looking into cool new opportunities we can run in the meantime. Check out our Facebook to see what's running and how you can get involved!
