About Anti-Trafficking Society (YATS)
We are a slavery abolitionist group tackling trafficking in York and the UK. We campaign and run events to raise awareness of the signs of trafficking. We also run fundraising projects throughout the year in collaboration with anti - slavery charities such as Unseen and A21 and the local authorities. A mall weekly commitment provides you an opportunity to make a real change towards ending this human rights injustice. Join our abolition group today!
Our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter is UOY Anti - Trafficking Society.
Tuesdays 6pm Spring Lane Building 005.
Come along to our weekly meetings and our events. If you can't make our meetings do come along and support our events raising money for the Modern Slavery Helpline, and our charity partners this year Unseen and A21.
Our past projects have included investigating local businesses to determine compliance with the Modern Slavery Act of 2015, resulting in article calling for greater uptake: https://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/16299800.york-failing-in-approach-to-modern-slavery-university-of-york-report-finds/
The plan first term is to focus on Fairtrade and the issues with trafficking in the food business. Second term we will be focusing on the issues of the clothing industry and fast fashion.
Do come along, get involved and support our cause.
