Volunteering & Charities

Getting more out of University...

Graduate recruiters are increasingly looking for more out of their applicants than just a degree. Not only do they want to see a wider range of experience, but they also want to see evidence of how you gained it. Gettin involved with volunteering or charity work is an ideal way to gain desirable skills and to gather evidence along the way.

We’ll get you started

Whichever scheme you choose to get involved with, you can expect support and advice at the ‘start-up’ stage when you’re finding a suitable role, as well as during and after your placement.

You don’t need any specific experience or qualification to get involved: any training or guidance you need will be provided ‘on the job’. If you don’t know exactly what you want to do, you’ll find plenty of suggestions and help in choosing a placement for you. However, if you do have something specific in mind, there are ways to accommodate that as well.

Take a look around this section to give yourself an overview of the schemes on offer, then get in touch with one (or more) of them. It’s one of the best ways to get the most out of your time at university.
