Services and Finance Officer Report, Week 8, Summer Term 2008
Since the last UGM, I have:
Presented our annual budget to the University Finance Committee
Chaired Finance Committee where we have passed the Union Budget for 08/09 and put it forward to this UGM
Worked to produce the new constitution after consultation with various stakeholder groups
Held and taken part in MANY meetings with University staff regarding the Langwith Bar development
Have successfully lobbied the University to allow YUSU to take over the Langwith bar space and redevelop it
Held many meetings to discuss the welcome week activities and events, including how to make them more diverse and inclusive
Successfully sold out Summer Ball and Graduation Dinner tickets!
Continued to work on the planning and organisation of Summer Ball and Graduation Dinner 2008 which have included many meetings with York Racecourse, suppliers, acts and people working at the event
Successfully run another great Viking Raid event
Negotiated £3,000 a year for the Bike Doctor programme from the Strategic Transport Group budget for 08/09
Negotiated a £1,500 subsidy for the Whizzgo car share scheme for students from the Strategic Transport group budget for 08/09
Interviewed and appointed new Doorsafe Managers for 08/09
Continued work to look at options and plans for the future of events on campus, to support them and increase patronage
Worked to lobby First York to run another £2 return to town trial for University of York Students
Worked to plan the IT strategy and coordinated work to be undertaken during the next three months, including enhancing the electronic ticket and product selling system on our website, which will be made available to all societies, clubs and jcrs to use
